At the weekly staff meeting, your CEO states that your management team will review the overall benefits package. You have a very diverse employee group and resources aren’t unlimited.
u can make an argument for anything, and if this is a class assignment, as long as you back up your choice with some LOGICAL arguments, you'll be fine.
i would say something like collaborative.
They gave me a horrible 20% raise that I am not happy about. Can I ask them to review and if I can, please tell me how and what kind of vocabulary do I use to request them for a better revision. My same counterparts get paid 50% higher than what I get but they do the same job as I. Thanks
Difficult to say. Some employers have employee evaluation system and use the result as basis for giving a raise. If your employee does not have such system, i.e. salary increment is purely on the discretion of your superior, then it is best to first bring to their attention the discrepancy of the increment between you and your colleague. In other words, ask them why the heck am I getting less than the other guy.
A word of caution, they may turn around and say..... you were just not performing.....
Post a new q when that happens.....
I'm preparing to train managemenmt staff. After working with ISO 9000 for ten years, I've lost the newcomer's perspective. I need an explaination that will sinnk in. Thanks!
Try this:
"Imagine that you were given the six winning numbers in a lottery worth $100 million, but you had to write in those numbers in the EXACT order given to you. Would you be careful to do it?"
That may get across the idea of always doing things in the prescribed manner and order every time.
This quesion is part o my assignment I'll highly appreciate if some one give me some hints..
thanx
Look at the assumptions if they are listed. Check with how reasonable they are both from a company perspective and that of the market. Look at the trends in the markets. See if the market agrees with the strategy. Look at the industry and see if the trends there fit the company stategy.
It has come to my attention that some managers do not actaully manage but do a 1 year review. As I understand it the job of management is to review a employees work daily to check for errors if any and point them out and correct for them. I have noticed that certain employees are evaluated while other are not.
What type of management theory is this that is being applied? I am keeping it short.
There can be several reasons for this behavior. One is (as others have said) bad management. Another is that the manager is dealing with people as they need to be handled and that is individually. Some people need individual guidance. Others work better with freedom and left alone. It is important as a manager to understand how your people react. If someone needs proding all of the time, do it. If someone need weekly conversation, do it. If someone needs to be left alone and just an annual review, then do it. It is a good tactical strategy.
