Am a business owner (franchise restaurant) and planing to apply to law school to help in future business?

So I am a small business owner and have a huge desire to go Law school, this will help me a lot in future business growth, am very interested in corporate law and business law... but need help to explain and relate that in the "Personal statement" that they require, it seems like everyone just writes how they want to help poor people, or gay rights and this and that.... I need some help to say that I need the law degree in my future plans since I would have a better handle on negotiating with future landlords, and contract writing for my future business growth!! please give me tips on how to relate law degree into business growth and not sound selfish since am not getting it to help me!
thanks
Please read the question carefully before answering. Answer #2 is a wase of time! I said I need to GROW my business by adding more branches and opening NEW UNIT GROWTH! I want the law knowlidge so that I could have great knowledge of Contract writing and other issues when it comes to being a small business owner, like lawsuits that are against SBO, and other issues such as! So please focus on the question! I know the difference between Unit growth and Business growth and what customer return means to a business.
Thansk!

Your newly acquired knowledge in law isn't going to do you much good for business growth.

Business growth comes from "Making and Keeping Customers" ...and absolutely nothing else.

So, what you need to focus on is knowledge that helps you understand how to "make and keep customers".

You will need to know how to incorporate this knowledge into your business policies...your procedures and your employees foremost...and then of course your product and advertising secondarily.

"Marketing" is where this information is at.

Good Luck

How much in sales does the average video game store do a day?

I'm looking to open a video game franchise. Per franchise laws, they cannot share any type of sales statistics with me. How much in sales does the average video game store do a day, week, month, and year?

a day i would assume a famous one, 200-1000 dollars a day, 5,000-30,000 dollars a month, 50,000-250,000 dollars a year. That's my guess.

Is it a law for Illinois employers to have workman's compsensation insurance?

My former employer, a doctor, had no workman's compsensation insurance. His business was part of a franchise. Should he legally have to have workman's comp insurance?

Small employers in IL are allowed to "opt out" of purchasing workers comp coverage. That does NOT, however, get them off the hook for paying benefits!!

So no, he likely is not legally required to carry it. But yes, he still has to pay benefits if you were injured - medical payments and lost wages.

You'll likely need to hire an attorney to get the money out of him, though. In my experience, guys like that don't voluntarily cough it up - you have to drag them through court.

Bought a 'Franchise License' 20 days ago. Is there a 30 day grace period so I can get my money back?

Hello,

I bought a license, like a franchise, from a company located in Florida. I'm not impressed with there business so far and I'm wondering if there is any grace period or time frame (legally) were I can ask for a refund of the investment.

It doesn't say anything in the agreement but I'm wondering if FL law has a grace period or 30 day time frame or something in regards to turning the deal around?

I don't think they are a terrible company. Just may have taken on to may licensees to fast.

Any information would be helpful.

Thanks

There must be provision for a cooling off period (to cancel the deal) which must be in their diclosure document. Get professional advice very soon to assist you. More information can be obtained from the Federal Trade Commission - their link is provided below. Good luck

Brazil Fast Food Announces Sale of Real Estate Assets MarketWatch (press release)

("Brazil Fast Food", or the "Company"), the second largest restaurant chain with 737 points of sale, and operating in Brazil under the (i) Bob's brand, (ii) KFC and Pizza Hut Sao Paulo as franchisee of Yum! Brands, and (iii) Doggis as franchisee of GED, today announced the sale of all real estate assets held by Venbo Comercio de Alimentos Ltda ("Venbo"), the Company's operating subsidiary, to Bigburger Ltda. and CCC Empreendimentos e Participacoes Ltda., entities controlled by Mr. Jose Ricardo Bomeny and Romulo B. Fonseca, respectively, who are significant stockholders of the Company (the "Stockholders"). The Stockholders, through their controlled entities, acquired eight stores for a total consideration of R$13.5 million, including a down payment of R$2.8 million, with the balance to be paid in 24 monthly installments. The sale was completed on September 1, 2010.

The sale of Venbo's real estate assets was approved on January 21, 2010, and ratified on June 29, 2010 by the Board of Directors, subject to a 30-day waiting period under Brazilian law to allow tenants the right of first refusal to acquire the stores. The real estate assets were subjected to third party evaluations from five different experts, with the final price based on the evaluation of Jones Lang LaSalle, a global real estate services firm, which based on recent comparable transactions estimated the assets to be worth approximately R$11.5 million. The buyers also accepted certain conditions to protect the long term interests of the Company, including the maintenance of existing rental agreements as well as loan guarantees, among others.
