What courses should you take in high school if you want to go into corporate law?
Restaurant

I am planning to go into corporate law one day and I am confused as to what high school courses you should take in order to be efficient in that certain field. Any answers would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

You should take the standard college prep courses. Once in college, DO NOT major in "pre-law!" It is a wasted degree and does nothing to prepare you for law school.

It is more important that you be a well rounded individual than it is you take the "right" courses to get into law school. Also, working for a couple of years after college before going to law school helps. It gives you a dose of "reality," which is useful to instruct your fellow students.

Where can I find free New York Corporate Law Consultation?
Reception

If an international holding company is going to put up a Headquarter in New York, and has a subsidiary in UK. Then one of its clients in UK would like to sue UK Subsidiary and New York Parent company, is there a way to protect the HQ? I need to see NY corporate law, where can i find it? Who can help me with legal structures and implications?

You can go to the NY Secretary of State web site for information on incorporating in New York and corporate law.

FYI: You may incorporate in any of the 50 United States, and the laws for each state are different, and so are the taxes. It would be wise for you to check to find out which states have the lowest taxes for your business.

For example, my corporation, is in North Carolina, and there is a state franchise tax on corporate assets within North Carolina, and every state is different.

It would be good to consult with an attorney who knows the pluses and minuses of all the states, before incorporating in New York.

Someone in corporate law: do those with better looks have an edge in hiring?
Untitled-1

I'm a plain looking girl, but incredibly confident about my professional and academic abilities.
When I begin applying for summer associate positions at large corporate law firms, do you think that the fact that my face isn't that beautiful will lower my chances of being hired?

Please be dressed in neat and tidy manner !!. Hiring solely depends upon the caliber and expertise possessed by the applicant.
You are sure to be selected !!

I am planning to join a corporate law firm as a junior lawyer. I have no experience before. Please tell me, what areas should I brush up my knowledge in. And what is the ambience like in a corporate firm? And also tell me your experiences in this field please.
Somebody answer????!!!!

Even if you got all A's in your corporate law classes in law school, nothing can prepare you for real practice. Just be alert and willing to learn. Accept correction at all times. The learning curve is very steep. Unlike the presidency, this profession lends itself to on-the-job training.

Does anyone have experience or know anyone has a career in tax or corporate law?

I am a young CPA and will be taking the LSAT soon. If I get accepted to law school, any suggestions on what route I should take? I think I would like doing corporate mergers, but I live in South Carolina. I absolutely love New York City, but I don't plan on living there. Critics tell me that it's a waste of time for me to go to law school after getting my CPA license, but I tell them they're full of it.

Several of my classmates were CPAs before coming to law school and their interests naturally went toward corporate banking/finance law, tax law, securities law, and M&A. However if you find your interests changing, you won't be pigeon-holed - one of my CPA law school friends became very active in post-Katrina housing issues. Having a CPA + JD is definitely a plus in terms of the kinds of jobs you can get and the salary you can make.

NYC is a tough legal market but you don't have to live here to work here - there's a good regional transportation network so you can live in the suburbs of NJ, CT, Long Island, or upstate NY.

If this is what you want, go for it and good luck!

Why the outcry over 'Citizens United' CNNMoney.com

Critics assert that the conservative justices here not only overstepped in each instance but did so in ways that expose the conservative jurisprudential principles they profess to live by as shams.

Second, the ruling has enormous impact on campaign finance law, where it frees corporations (and presumably unions) to use their vast financial resources to influence elections . At the same time the decision upholds certain disclosure requirements for corporations, which the majority of justices hope might act as a brake on abuse.

Legislative attempts to rein in corporations' powers to influence elections date to the 1890s, when states began enacting laws limiting or banning companies' rights to make campaign expenditures.

In the Tillman Act of 1907, Congress followed suit, banning corporate direct contributions to federal political candidates. Supporters of the laws hoped to curb corruption, and they sought to prevent managers of corporations from using shareholder money to support political causes the shareholders might oppose.
