A Bankers draft is a cheque that is prepaid and guarranteed for the amount specified by the bank It is hard to stop a Bank Draft therefore it is important that it is directed to a specified person. Yes you can arrange for a loan to cover the bankers draft. A personal cheque is issued by yourself against your account and is personally guarranteed by yourself .

I almost went into investment banking but opted to go to school for a more traditional profession instead. With the current downturn, I'm wondering about what might have been.

What is the employment outlook for I-bankers?

I don't know how many have lost their jobs or stand to do so, but I'd say the overall outlook isn't great for the next year or so. However, it really depends on a few criteria like how well the individual bank is faring in the current climate, and which area the bankers are working in (e.g. mergers and acquisitions aren't doing a lot of business at the moment). It also would depend on how good you are - if you clearly stand out from your peers they more likely would have taken you on even if it's not the best timing now, as it's about making a longer term investment in the bank and you. After all, the long term outlook for banking jobs is still excellent, as they still make the economy run, and make a lot of money for their banks.

ironically i lost a bankers draft and am unable to find it anywhere. i have a faxed copy of it however. In unlucky circumstances i am no longer able to contact the sender of the bankers draft, however i know i have not been scammed because i have done business with this person before with bankers drafts.
This means that i cant get it canceled and reissued because i am the receiver of it and have no contact with the sender,
is there anything i can do?

I'm considering applying at Woodforest Bank, but i'm not really sure what the going rate for retail bankers is. At walgreens i make $8.25 per hour and i wouldn't really want to switch jobs unless the pay was better.

I'm a teller at a bank. I make $9 per hour with a college degree. I'm in North Carolina and work for a locally owned bank. Salaries would vary depending on where you are at and what bank you are working for.
